Passive House is an international standard for buildings with very low energy consumption (lower than 15kWh/m2a heating demand and lower than 15kWh/m2a cooling demand). Moreover, this standard guaranties a very high climate comfort (class A-Ashrae). First Passive Houses has been built in the early nineteen’s in central Europe. In our days, we count more than 10.000 buildings constructed with this standard. The acceptance of the users is very high, and the field results in realized buildings, including monitoring-projects, are very good. Passive Houses are now under construction not only in central Europe, but also in Italy and in Spain. The quality management concept, defined by the German Passivhausinstitut, offers an economic, simple and very efficient procedure to design and to execute this kind of buildings.
